Experience the warmth and hospitality of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia at Marine Atlantic's North Sydney terminal as you make your ferry connection to Newfoundland.

How do I board?
Five toll booths mark the entrance to the North Sydney terminal, where the MV Blue Puttees, the MV Highlanders, the MV Atlantic Vision, and the MV Leif Ericson sail for Port aux Basques and Argentia. Commercial and drive-up reservation passengers obtain their tickets at this point, and are then queued into appropriate lanes in the compound marshaling area to await the sailing.

A service lane for taxis, buses and walk-on passengers runs parallel to the terminal building. There is no vehicle access from this lane to the marshaling compound. A baggage handling area is also located in the terminal.

The Gulf Dock is a two-level loading dock which allows two lanes of vehicles to be loaded simultaneously.

What services and amenities are on site?
Adjacent to the marshaling compound is the four-story terminal building. Inside, the ground floor houses the ticket counter and office, main lobby, public washrooms, Newfoundland Information Center, a TV room, lobby and cafeteria. (Food services on site are provided by Cabot Catering.) Outside this section is a public patio area with a view of the dock, compound and harbour.

The second floor features a passenger rest area, TV lounge and the third floor houses the terminal’s administrative offices. The fourth story is a mechanical area, which is off-limits to the public. However, there is an observation deck and patio located on the second floor for public use, and they are accessible via the outside of the building.
