Changing for you
In 2011, it's a new Marine Atlantic. This year we're proudly introducing two modern vessels to our fleet – the MV Blue Puttees and the MV Highlanders. Meaning new amenities, services, and cabins; reduced maintenance and increased reliability; and 25% more capacity for both our commercial and passenger traffic. The MV Atlantic Vision has been adapted to feature more seating areas, dining choices and increased amenities as it moves to the North Sydney – Argentia Route in 2011. Finally, the MV Leif Ericson is our dedicated commercial ferry travelling the North Sydney - Port aux Basques route and we have recently invested over $15 million to better serve our commercial clients and increase reliability.
With our two new additions and the modernization to our fleet, it brings the average age of our fleet to only 9 years. Now that's real change.
All of this is made possible by over $521 million in new investment over the next five years. We're planning for our future – meeting a growing demand, renewing our fleet and shore facilities, and providing an improved service. And through customer research we're now more in tune with your needs. So when it came to the new additions to our fleet, and existing vessels, we listened. That's why you'll see more cabins AND more contemporary public spaces to relax in – plus a wider range of meal options, everything from light snacks to full buffets.
