For your Safety

Marine Atlantic recommends that all passengers familiarize themselves with the location and instructions for use of life jackets and evacuation stations upon boarding the vessel. Marine Atlantic's crew are thoroughly trained in emergency procedures. If you have questions, please ask a crew member for assistance.

Fire and smoke detectors are located throughout the ship. The ship is also equipped with a fire extinguishing system.

For health and safety reasons, passengers are not permitted to sleep on the floor.

For your safety and security, passengers are not permitted on the vessel’s vehicle decks during the crossing.  International marine regulations state that an individual may only return to the vehicle deck, while the vessel is at sea, with the expressed consent of the Captain.

Marine Atlantic complies with the Canada Shipping Act. In accordance with the Act, recreational vehicles carrying propane must have cylinder valves fully closed before boarding the ship, and no gas appliances may be operated while onboard.

Upon arrival in port, drivers are asked not to start their engines until directed to do so by our personnel, or until the traffic directly ahead of you has begun to disembark. Delaying the start of you engine will minimize exhaust emissions on the vehicle deck.
