Fuel Surcharge

Marine Atlantic’s fuel surcharge is currently set at 13.8%. The fuel surcharge recovers the amount the Corporation spends on fuel in the current fiscal year compared to the amount spent on fuel in 2006. To determine the amount to be collected the Corporation reviews and sets the fuel surcharge on a quarterly basis. The fuel surcharge is applied to the cost of transportation (passengers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles). It is not applied to accommodations and services on board of the vessels. The next update is scheduled for March 2010.
